Standing Up To Cancer

As I wait for my final chemo tablets of the cycle I've been reminded that those who don't follow me on any social media won't have seen the message I posted this week, so here is a short post to update everyone:

Over the last couple of months Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 have been filming me and my family in order to contribute to a programme as part of Stand Up To Cancer. This has culminated in a short film that will be shown this Sunday during Bear Grylls' Celebrity Island 9pm Channel 4. So please watch and I hope everyone enjoys (for want of a better word) what has been put together by the team.

  2. I just watched the film. Prior to that, not knowing anything about judo, I hadn't heard of you. Now I won't forget you. You and your parents were so dignified in the face of the most wicked adversity. I was very moved by your response to your tumour. I wish you good luck and I will read your blog x

  3. Hello Jamie. I have been following your blog from the beginning and have always felt humbled by your upbeat and often humorous account of your experiences through this incredibly arduous journey with "Timmy". You are certainly giving him a run for his money. Talking of money I have just made a donation to Cancer Research after watching the very moving film you made with your lovely Mum and Dad. I hope many others viewers dig deep too. Having connections to both Cardiff and Exeter, I have read many newspaper articles about your life. You are a talented and inspirational person who is definitely making an impact. An example to us all. J

  9. Hi Jamie, I saw the film on Bear's programme. I wish I had some words to convey how I wish the World and the way of things were different for you. It's obvious from the film what kind of young man you are. You are brave, kind, pleasant, mannerly, hard working, driven and good son, a champion and an inspiration. Tomorrow I shall sit my kids down and tell them about you and how proud I would be to have a son like you..

  10. Jamie, Just seen the film after Beat Gryrs - can't help but feel the Island is somewhat "staged" and to see your story is rather humbling. I read several posts alrready have come forward with some alternative treatments and my humble advice is never ever give up just as I am sure you approached Judo. Best wishes and good luck. Chris

  14. Dear Jamie, We will probably never meet but I am a fellow traveler with terminal breast cancer and understand how it is. You should know that death is not inevitable anytime soon. There is so much out there you can do to control this disease and being young, disciplined, determined you have a shot. Please look at the work of Professor Williams (diagnosed with Glioblastoma, stage 4) re: adding multiple, commonly used drugs alonside your chemo which work in concert to tackle the complex, many headed beast that is cancer. Please go here - http://www.survivingterminalcancer.com/ I am taking this approach and my tumor markers are dropping away.. Care Oncology Clinic, London will prescribe them. Your oncologist will show resistance due to lack or trials currently - don't listen-you don't have time to wait for them. Find your own way. My very best wishes, Suzanne

  15. I should add.... Please be careful of so called faith healers, Gershon diet, alternative practitioners. I know of no-one being healed this way and my friends have died trying these approaches after having paid a great deal of money in the process! Do keep up the chemo (even in low doses) & targeted, conventional meds but add in other, useful drugs & some natural substances i.e. curcumin in a multi-targeted approach as previous post. Keep a clear head. Good luck, Suzanne
